RECORDING SOUND

Thomas Edison was the first person who created a machine to record sound and play it again.
It was the phonograph and it was invented in 1887.
Emile Berliner invented the gramophone. It was similar to the phonograph, but, instead of storing the sound on a cylindrical drum, it was in a flat disc.
It was in the 1920s, when there was first invented a tape recorder that recorder sound as a magnetic pattern on a long strand of tape. In the 1960s the cassette tapes appeared. In 1979 Sony Corporation invented the walkman. CDs were first made in 1980, but it was in 1982 when Philips and Sony launched them. A CD player uses laser to scan the CDs.
